Nobody decides to drift. They just repeat yesterday until it becomes their future.
Have you ever looked around at your own life and quietly wondered,
“How did I end up here?” Not because your life is bad, but because somewhere along the way, it stopped feeling like it belonged to you.
You Are Walking Somewhere. Did You Choose Where? Nobody wakes up one morning and decides to live a life they didn’t choose.
It never happens that way. It happens quietly. A person repeats yesterday. Then repeats it again. Then again.
And one day they look up and realise the repetition has become their life.
I am not saying its a wrong decision, but they kept making the same one without noticing. In the sessions I hold, I meet a lot of people who believe they are waiting.
Waiting for clarity. Waiting for the right time. Waiting until things settle down, until the responsibilities ease, until they feel ready.
And I understand it. Waiting feels safe. But that isn’t what is happening. Every habit you keep is carrying you somewhere. Every conversation you avoid is carrying you somewhere. Every belief you have never questioned is carrying you somewhere. If something in this makes you uncomfortable, I understand. I am asking you to look at beliefs you may have carried your whole life. I am asking you to see what is truly yours.
Everything I share is rooted in the wisdom of the ancient scriptures, not in personal opinion alone, but also in the insights gained through my own spiritual practice and firsthand experience.
My intention is not to tell you what to believe, but to invite you to see more clearly. The person who has made no decision has still made one. They have simply agreed to continue in the direction they were already facing.
That is the part most people miss. You are not standing at a crossroads deciding whether to walk. You are already walking. Who chose this direction? Here is the question I ask, and it is usually the one that changes the direction of your life? The path that you are walking -who chose this direction? Because you will trace it back honestly, and often find that you did nt choose that path for yourself.
It came from a culture’s definition of what a successful life looks like. It came from an old survival strategy that once kept them safe, in a situation they left behind years ago. It came from a decision made at nineteen by someone. And then it was never revisited. It just kept running.
People are rarely lost. They are usually walking very consistently in a direction someone else selected for them. When people feel that something is off, your first instinct is almost always to try harder.
A better morning routine. A stricter schedule. More tracking, more optimising, more discipline. I watch people do this with enormous sincerity. And it rarely works, because effort was never the missing piece.
Consistency in the wrong direction does not correct the direction.
This is why so many capable people are exhausted right now. They are not undisciplined. They are running at full speed along a route they never actually chose, and wondering why arriving keeps feeling like nothing.
You cannot out-work a direction problem. You can only face it.
The pattern I see most often. A person came to me saying-I did everything right, and I don’t know why it feels like this. They did do everything right. By a definition they never wrote.
That is the whole of it. They met every standard, cleared every milestone, satisfied every expectation and not one of those standards was theirs.
They simply arrived somewhere they never chose, and the arriving is what finally made it visible. Which, in my experience, is the first honest moment they have had in years.
Lakshya: Choosing Your Own Aim. In Sanātana Dharma there is the idea of lakshya the aim, the mark one walks toward.
The point of it is not achievement. The point is that the aim must be your own. An arrow released without a mark still travels. It still lands somewhere. Direction is not something life gives you. It is something you take responsibility for. People often want a method at this point. A framework, a set of steps.
Follow it forward. Ten years of this. Twenty years of these same habits, the same avoidances, the same beliefs you have never examined.
Look at where that arrives. And then ask the only question that matters: would I choose that?
If the answer is yes, you have just claimed few seconds of your life. If the answer is no, you have found something far more valuable than comfort. You have found the exact place where your life stopped being yours.
Most people never ask, because they never knew the question existed!!
And direction is not chosen once. It is chosen, and then chosen again, in ordinary moments the conversation you finally have, the commitment you finally release, the morning you do something different from yesterday.
Choosing your own direction means you can no longer explain your life by pointing at what was done to you, or what you inherited, or what you never had. It means your life comes back into your own hands.
You are already walking. You have been walking this whole time. Every ordinary day is a vote for the future you are creating. Tomorrow morning you will wake up and continue walking. The question is not whether life will move. It will anyways.
The question is whether the destination is one you would consciously choose.
If you find yourself arriving at the same place again and again, yet cannot see how you got there, a Pattern Clarity Session offers a space for us to explore those patterns together with awareness, compassion, and practical guidance.
