Guru Purnima 2026: Why Do We Still Feel Lost When Wisdom Is Everywhere?

A Reflection on Guru Purnima

Guru Purnima has always been one of my favourite days in the spiritual calendar. Because it reminds me of something we often forget.

None of us grows alone. Every breakthrough, every lesson, every shift in our lives has happened because someone, at the right time, helped us see what we couldn’t see ourselves.

That is a Guru. The word Guru itself carries a beautiful meaning. A Guru helps remove the ignorance that keeps you from seeing clearly.

Today, we have access to almost everything. If you want to learn meditation, there are thousands of videos. If you want to understand spirituality, there are countless podcasts, and courses. Information has never been easier to access. Yet why do so many people still feel lost?

This is something I keep reflecting on. Over the years, while guiding people through Akashic Record Readings, I have noticed a common pattern. People know they need to forgive, yet they continue carrying the same hurt. They know meditation helps, yet they keep waiting for the “right time.”

They recognise the patterns that are holding them back, yet somehow find themselves repeating them. That is because knowing and living are two very different things. Transformation doesn’t begin when we learn something new. It begins when we choose to live what we already know.

That, to me, is the difference between information and wisdom. A Guru doesn’t simply give you more information. A Guru helps you integrate what you already know. Sometimes all we need is who helps us see our blind spots. Someone who gently reminds us of who we really are. Someone who believes in us until we learn to believe in ourselves again.

I also believe that a true Guru never creates dependency. A true Guru creates freedom. They don’t ask you to follow them forever. They help you trust your own inner wisdom, thats why they ask to turn inwards. Thats their way of real guidance.

This Guru Purnima (29th July 2026), instead of looking for another video to watch, maybe we can pause and ask ourselves a few honest questions.

This Guru Purnima (29th July 2026), instead of looking for another video to watch, maybe we can pause and ask ourselves a few honest questions.

  1. Who has helped me become the person I am today
  2. Who has helped me become the person I am today

Guru Purnima is also a reminder to express gratitude.

  1. To your teacher.
  2. Thank your parents and your mentors.

Remember the people who stood by you during the most difficult chapters of your life. And if someone is no longer physically present, offer them a silent prayer. Gratitude has a beautiful way of opening the heart.

For me, Guru Purnima is not just about honouring a person. It is about honouring wisdom itself. Because wisdom is not measured by how much we live.

If this reflection has stirred something within you, don’t ignore it. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give ourselves is the courage to understand the patterns we already know are asking to be healed.
